HomeFront
This internationally recognized, coordinated community response to domestic violence was launched in 2000 and became a nonprofit agency in 2004. Its work centres on a specialized domestic violence court (initiated by Homefront) that functions in collaboration with law enforcement, the justice system and relevant social services agencies.
The Homefront program offers support and access for victims, early intervention, accountability leading to behaviour change in the offender, and less delay between charge and trial - all under the rubric of what Faithful City calls transformative justice.
Independent research has shown a two-thirds reduction in repeat offences for those who have completed the program.
