Alliance to End Violence and The Action Committee Against Elder Abuse

In 2008 Faithful City played a critical role in the conception and formation of the Coordinated Community Response to Elder Abuse.

This innovative Calgary-grown initiative has had significant church involvement from the beginning with the Anglican / Roman Catholic based Trinity Place Foundation acting as a partner in its creation. Using the HomeFront experience of community engagement, it seeks to transform the response and treatment systems that will change the lives of abused elders in Calgary.

Specifically, the proposed Coordinated Community Response Model endeavours to have all key services related to elder abuse linked with clear protocols, processes, and defined roles and responsibilities. With the key resources better linked, our goal is for a more uniform response to elder abuse, including assistance for victims. A key element of the model is a 24-hour Elder Abuse Hot Line, which is currently in the development phase.
