About Us
Faithful City focusses on creating systemic change for some of Calgary's most common social issues. Faithful City believes that collaborative community response is the most effective way to create system change. To that end, Faithful City works with the following community stakeholders:
- religious and faith communities,
- corporations and boards,
- social services providers,
- governments, and
- people like you.
The core Faithful City team is a small group of dedicated people who view spirituality as critical to social good. The people of Faithful City are:
- The Very Reverend Robert Pynn, Co-Chair: Bob Pynn has served as Archdeacon and Dean of the Anglican Diocese in Calgary, Alberta. He also served as Prolocutor of the General Synod and was a founding Advisory Board member of the Chair of Christian Thought at the University of Calgary. Throughout his career Bob has inspired and helped found many social programs, including HomeFront and Faithlink.
- Pat Cashion, Co-Chair: Pat Cashion, a Calgary businessman, works as a volunteer with Faithful City. In this role, he has participated in initiatives designed to increase collaboration among services for seniors, and other projects as well. Pat’s past experience with not-for-profits is extensive and includes several years as a Board member and Chair of CUPS, an inner city health clinic for street people and pre-school education centre for children from economically challenged families. Pat is firmly committed to the concept of volunteers adding value to collaborative community responses to social challenges.
- Linda Gemmell, Administration: Linda first worked with Robert Pynn when he was the rector at St. Peter’s Anglican Church. Linda worked in the office, feeling so called to work in the church that she stayed for 20 years! After she retired, The Very Rev. Robert Pynn approached Linda to join the team at Faithful City. Because she has always felt that the church has an important role in society, it seemed a natural fit.
